hello

Personal Statement

Stories have always been my way of understanding the world, a vibrant tapestry weaving human experiences, emotions, and truths. From a young age, I found myself captivated by the power of narratives, whether in the quiet moments captured through my camera lens or in the sweeping arcs of films that stirred my heart. Film, a powerful yet often-overlooked art form, transforms visual storytelling into a medium that can change lives. It crafts narratives that heal, provoke emotion, bring understanding, and inspire, transporting audiences to unimaginable worlds and cultivating empathy for people and places previously unknown.

My journey to filmmaking is rooted in my love for telling stories and a lifelong passion for artistic expression, shaped by years of exploring photography and a diverse academic background in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, and interior design.

Photography has been my creative outlet for years, capturing moments and spaces giving them an eternal existence with a unique perspective through the lens. Photography taught me to see the world with intention, framing moments to tell stories that evoke connection and authenticity. Transitioning to film feels like a natural evolution, a medium where I can blend visuals, sound, and narrative to create transformative experiences.

My engineering background has equipped me with a disciplined approach to problem-solving and project management, skills I wish to apply to the collaborative and technical demands of filmmaking. Meanwhile, my studies in interior design have sharpened my eye for composition, colour, and spatial storytelling, which I can bring to envisioning sets and scenes that amplify a story’s emotional core.

I am driven to create films that do more than entertain. I want to address pressing social issues, spark dialogue, offer fresh perspectives, and foster empathy. Whether exploring themes of identity, resilience, or human connection, I aim to craft narratives that linger with audiences, inviting them to reflect and engage with the world in new ways. Film school represents the next step in this journey, a place to refine my craft, collaborate with diverse voices, and contribute to the legacy of storytelling that has shaped humanity for generations.

Growing up, I noticed how stories, whether shared around a table or projected on a screen, could set free, heal, inspire, and unite. I am committed to mastering the art and technique of filmmaking to tell stories that matter, leaving a lasting impact on both the screen and the hearts of those who watch.
